A renewed application by child serial killer and former nurse Lucy Letby to appeal her convictions is due to be heard in court next month.

Letby, 34, was sentenced to a whole-life prison order last year for the murder of seven babies, and a further seven attempted murders, while she worked as a neonatal nurse at Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in the North West of England.

After an initial application to appeal these convictions was rejected earlier this year, Letby – who continues to deny all charges – submitted a new appeal request in February.

Today (14 March), it was confirmed by the judiciary that this application for leave to appeal will be heard in court on 22, 23 and 25 April 2024.

If, at the hearing, Letby’s right to appeal is granted then her legal team will also outline the substantive appeal itself.

Letby will be entitled to attend a substantive appeal via video link.
