5 Habits to Honor Your Capacity

heart painted on hands

As we begin month two of the new year, how are you doing with your more in 24? I am successful with being more Wholehearted, my focus, when I honor my capacity. This is because your capacity to love yourself determines your capacity to love others in a fully sincere, authentic, and enthusiastic way.

Your capacity is how much you can do and hold and feel good about yourself based on your physical, mental, and emotional time and energy. Knowing your capacity is not limiting but empowering because it helps to prevent you from over-extending, overcommitting, and overwhelming yourself by trying to do too much. When we honor our capacity, we have the energy to make our best decisions for the things that are most important, like our health, loved ones, and work.

We often get this wrong. We deny our capacity and think we can wait to take care of ourselves after we get something done, when we deserve it and feel good about ourselves. The truth is, when we honor our capacity all of the time, we have more energy to get things done even better and faster and can feel great about ourselves!

What are you willing to do to honor your capacity? Here are 5 habits to help:

  1. I create boundaries by saying no more than I say yes.
  2. I allow more time than I think is needed-for everything!
  3. I let go of comparing, expecting, judging or shoulding—on myself.
  4. I time-block my sleep, rest and recovery activities first to support my capacity.
  5. When I forget, get lost, or make a poor choice, I remember it’s my opportunity to grow and learn about myself and my capacity.

When you practice even one of these habits, you honor your capacity and can focus on who and what you love most. Isn’t that a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day?
