Actor Jeremy Renner Visits Hospital Staff Who Saved His Life After Tragic Accident

The Avengers actor is starting to feel like his old self after being involved in a tragic snow plow accident on New Year’s Day near his home in Nevada. Jeremy Renner lost control of a large snow groomer when the emergency brake slipped out of place. The machine then crashed into him, leaving him with over 30 broken bones.

“The Pistenbully snow groomer began sliding causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake,” the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office wrote in the official report.

“Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”

Renner was rushed to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada, where he was treated for numerous injuries.

Now that the actor is back on his feet, he recently went back to the hospital to show his appreciation to the staff who helped him through his recovery. Renner documented the tearful reunion on his Instagram page. “I got to revisit the amazing group of people who saved my life,” the 52-year-old wrote in the caption.

While doing press for his upcoming Disney+ show, Renner explained that he was kicked out of the ICU when he was in the hospital because the building was under construction, so he was placed in what he described as a “janitor’s closet.”

“The lights are flickering, everyone here is moaning, like they’re dying in the ICU,” Renner said during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel. “I’m like, ‘This is like a haunted house, and it’s called ICU like, ‘I see you,’ which is creepy. I’m like, ‘I want out of this place! I’m not going to get better here!'” <sic>

Renner was released from the hospital in January and has since been recovering at home. He has been documenting his journey on social media and recently visited Six Flags with his family using an electric scooter.

“I’m going back to this hospital this week to apologize to every one of those nurses,” Renner added with a laugh before visiting the staff at Renown.

Renner also credits his family, including his daughter, Ava, 10, for helping him through his journey.
