NEW DEVELOPMENT
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) lifted the suspension on the 21st of November 2023, and Icilda is now ready to reopen her Nursing Home doors with renewed dedication.
We now urgently need your support to rescue Icilda's Nursing Home (Ashdale) from the brink of closure! For over 40 years, this sanctuary has been a beacon of care and comfort for countless residents. Now, it's facing an unprecedented crisis, and we need your help to turn things around.
We urgently seek help to rescue Icilda's Nursing Home (Ashdale) and uphold the values of justice, equity, and community.
Icilda purchased Ashdale Nursing Home as a new care provider, envisioning a haven for those in need. Little did she know the challenges that lay ahead.
On 1st September 2023, Icilda faced an unwarranted suspension from her Nursing Home premises, disrupting the home's operations. Despite Equality 4 Black Nurses' (E4BN) efforts to address concerns from experts in the Nursing community, the Local Authority (LA) shockingly facilitated the eviction of all 16 residents on 21st September 2023. This occurred without notice and has push the Nursing Home to the edge, exhausted all financial reserves and has created a significant funding gap.
The residents of Icilda’s Nursing Home were removed by the LA only 30 days after the CQC’s first visit. For 21 of those days, Icilda was suspended and barred from managing the place to make the alleged improvements required by the LA and CQC.
The visit was not prompted by any fatalities or an increase in untoward incidents. In addition, neither the residents nor their families have ever made a complaint to the LA or CQC.
Despite facing race discrimination, having all her residents removed and the departures of key staff, Icilda tirelessly worked to meet every hurdle head-on and is now ready to start again.

HOW WE WILL SPEND YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS
We will enhance facilities to meet and exceed CQC standards.
Conduct specialised training programs for existing staff to enhance the quality of care.
We will recruit skilled professionals to fill any gaps in the workforce, ensuring adequate staffing levels for optimal care.
Invest in state-of-the-art technology solutions to streamline administrative processes and enhance communication within Icilda's Nursing home.
Launch community programs to strengthen ties between residents and our community.
We will foster partnerships with local businesses, schools, and organisations to create a supportive network for Ashdale.
Retain legal representation to address any lingering issues with the LA/CQC and to protect Ashdale's rights while advocating for fair and just treatment in all dealings with regulatory bodies.
We will regularly update supporters on the progress made with detailed financial reports.
And lastly, we plan to create a serene and therapeutic environment by establishing a community garden and green spaces for residents to enjoy.
